Rudolf Steiner’s well-known quote “it takes a village to raise a child”, sums up what a lot of parents – either consciously or instinctively – understand about community. Growing up, children need love, inspiration and stimulation from a variety of sources. It is hard, if not impossible, for one person to equip a child with everything that they need, and the more (integrated) people who are involved in the child’s life, the more their natural curiosities, desire for learning can be met, and their joy and fun can be shared. The funny thing is that us adults are really just big kids. Inherently, we all have a natural curiosity to learn about life, that can be supported by others who have experience in those areas that interest us. In our lifetime, we each have a unique journey with its own challenges and joys, moments of difficulty as well as celebration. Being part of a supportive community can help us to learn what we need to learn from the challenges, and to celebrate more fully our joys and achievements. Due to the sometimes isolating nature of our present day society, many “communities” are not utilised
